A Family Tradition Revived

Nona teaching her first granddaughter how to fill a tamale

I was about the same age of my great - niece (pictured above with my sister)  when I filled my first tamale.  At this time of the year our family, aunts, uncles, and lots of cousins went to my grandmother's home to make tamales.   It was an annual holiday tradition that ended when we became teens.   Since my niece bought her first home, she opened her home to revive the "tamale" tradition!
